Scarlett Johansson hilariously impersonated Senator Katie Britt on Saturday Night Live, taking a playful jab at President Joe Biden in a surprise appearance during the show’s State of the Union skit. The 39-year-old actor comically mimicked the Republican politician, who recently gave her party’s response to Biden’s speech to Congress.
The skit kicked off with Ego Nwodim playing the role of CNN’s Abby Phillip and Mikey Day as Biden. Biden mentioned that Britt’s response would be more helpful than anything he could say. Although the real-life Britt criticized Biden’s political views and pointed out that he has been in office longer than she has been alive, Johansson’s character echoed some of these sentiments in the skit.
Captured in a cozy kitchen setting, much like how Britt shared her own thoughts on Biden’s State of the Union address, Johansson humorously quipped that she was trying out for the role of a “scary mom” and went on to present a witty monologue titled, “This country is a nightmare.”
“I mean, I’m not just a senator. I’m also a wife and a mother, and basically the wildest lady in the Target parking lot,” the actress remarked in an episode helmed by Josh Brolin and featuring Ariana Grande as the musical guest. “I’m deeply concerned about what lies ahead for our kids, which is why I’ve brought you into this odd, empty kitchen. Apparently, the Republicans think I need to appeal to female voters, and apparently, women have a thing for kitchens.”

After watching the speech with her husband Wesley, Scarlett Johansson commented on Biden’s polished performance as a career politician. After a spontaneous burst of singing, Johansson’s character went on to express to her children every night that they are “immersed in the spirit of brave patriots in a fortress made of bones.” She then slyly referenced Jordan Peele’s film Get Out by playfully stirring a spoon in a teacup, sparking a reaction from Kenan Thompson.
Addressing the struggles of the American people, Johansson’s character reassured them by stating, “We understand you. We notice you. We even catch a whiff of your presence. We’re currently in your kitchen, peeking into your fridge. And what’s that we see on the top shelf? Immigrants.”
In her closing remarks, she cheekily hinted at President Biden, saying, “To the President of the United States, I have one final message: Mr. Biden, beware, for Katie Britt isn’t going away anytime soon. Perhaps not in the realm of politics, but in your dreams, I’ll always be lurking around.”
