Scarlett Johansson has collaborated with renowned jewelry houses to showcase their precious jewels in the “Nature’s Artistry” campaign by David Yurman. While she has access to remarkable pieces, one particular item holds great significance for her – a unique rubber Cable Bracelet designed by David Yurman. This bracelet will be available for purchase at $20, with 100% of the profits going towards The Lower Eastside Girls Club (LESGC). Coinciding with the new David Yurman spring campaign, titled “Nature’s Artistry,” the campaign features the talented actress, Scarlett Johansson, and the esteemed artist, Shawn Mendes. In her second year collaborating with the jewelry brand, Marking Johansson was announced as an ambassador for David Yurman last spring. Starting on April 13th, a curated selection of David Yurman designs chosen by Johansson will contribute 20% of sales towards the LESGC (Lower Eastside Girls Club) in New York City. This organization provides free programs in various areas such as art, STEM, digital media, leadership, entrepreneurship, and wellness for young women of color. The previous partnership between Johansson and David Yurman succeeded in raising over $300,000 for the non-profit organization. In an interview, Johansson discusses the upcoming David Yurman campaign, the jewelry pieces she intends to pass down to her daughter, and her personal style when it comes to jewelry.

Why did you choose to continue collaborating with David Yurman?

Working with Evan and his parents at David Yurman has been an incredible experience for me. It’s hard to believe that such a renowned global brand can feel like a small, close-knit family project. The Yurman family has been incredibly welcoming and their creativity is extraordinary. Collaborating with them on our campaigns feels like a special opportunity to unleash our creativity together. It’s truly a pleasure to see our images displayed in iconic locations throughout the city, and they always turn out absolutely stunning.

What was your favorite aspect of shooting the new campaign?

I think my favorite part was simply being in that location. I have such a wonderful connection and fond memories of the east end of Long Island, and I know it holds special meaning for Evan and his parents as well. Despite it being work, it didn’t feel like it. There was a relaxed vibe throughout the entire shoot, which is uncommon when working with such a big client. In the past, I’ve collaborated with major fashion houses and sometimes there’s this pressure from the client where you’re unsure if you’re capturing their vision, and it can be quite stressful. However, this shoot felt more like hanging out with friends and creating beautiful images and videos. It’s been such a pleasant experience because we were all genuinely enjoying ourselves. Everything fell into place perfectly; the weather was spectacular. I believe the campaign exudes an effortless chic vibe, much like their stunning jewelry.

What do you appreciate about the Nature’s Artistry collection? It has a personal touch that I believe resonates with Evan. The designs are tailored to his individual taste and showcase his remarkable creativity and enthusiasm. When you interact with the pieces, you can feel the immense love and thoughtfulness that he has put into each one – from the way it moves to the intricate craftsmanship that connects all the elements together. I find that truly captivating. Working with artists like Evan is always a pleasure, and this collection holds a special significance for him – it holds a deep and meaningful artistic value.

What led you to support The Lower Eastside Girls Club?

The Yurman family is incredibly philanthropic, which is truly admirable. They actively demonstrate their commitment to various organizations that hold personal significance for them. Given this, it was crucial for Evan and I to choose specific initiatives to collaborate on. The Lower Eastside Girls Club immediately came to mind because our first campaign emphasized our shared love for New York City and was shot during the height of the COVID pandemic. After months of quarantine, the city was slowly reopening, and it felt like a moment of coming together. The Girls Club stood out to me because it directly impacts the residents of this community, and their organization feels like a close-knit family. They provide a free and safe space for girls to explore their passions and encourage them to use their creativity to find potential career paths. It’s an incredible organization that allows girls to connect with one another. I’ve had the opportunity to meet women who have graduated from The Lower Eastside Girls Club, and they now work within the community, positively influencing people’s lives at a grassroots level. This type of leadership and direct impact is truly remarkable.

Scarlett Johansson stars in the “Nature’s Artistry” campaign for David Yurman. When it comes to wearing jewelry, I personally prefer to wear it every day and tend to stick to my favorite layered pieces. I realized that most of the jewelry I wear is actually gifted to me. In my younger days, I used to buy a lot of jewelry for myself because my mom taught me not to wait for others to buy it for me. However, as I’ve grown older, I have started cherishing the sentimental value of the pieces that were given to me. I have accumulated quite a collection of beautiful items that I plan to pass down to my daughter, pieces that I truly adore. My interest in jewelry was sparked by my dad, who was an architect and introduced me to Victorian jewelry. Additionally, my aunt, who is a specialist in Victorian jewelry in London, has taught me a great deal about the design and symbolism behind these pieces, and I have also taken the time to explore and educate myself further in this area.

I tend to wear the same outfits every day. My husband has given me some beautiful things, and Eva made me a gorgeous ring with a stunning opal in it. It’s a special ring because we both share a love for gemstones, especially opals. During our first campaign at the Carlyle, he surprised me with a tray of glowing orbs – opals that he collected over the years from gem shows and other places. He said he would make me a ring out of one of them, and it was such a thoughtful gesture. Each stone represented a member of my family. I wear that ring every day too. However, I don’t change my jewelry as often as I used to, except for special occasions. It’s always fun to wear extraordinary pieces that I could never own myself, especially on the red carpet.

Speaking of the red carpet, I’ve had the opportunity to wear some truly remarkable pieces. I’ve worn vintage Bulgari collections from the 1960s, hidden away in their vaults. These are unique pieces that haven’t been seen for decades. I always try to gain access to the jewelry houses’ vaults because they have treasures that no one has laid eyes on in years. It’s such a thrill to bring these pieces back to life; they are truly priceless. Many of them are pieces that the houses repurchase from personal collections and keep for inspiration. So, I’ve had the chance to wear some rare pieces from Bulgari and Cartier. This year, as I’m going to Cannes, I’ll be collaborating with David Yurman on a special piece. I don’t know what it will be yet, but I’m excited to see the result. On Mother’s Day, my daughter Rose bought me a necklace from Zales, and it’s my most cherished possession. She and my husband went there to buy it, so a big shout-out to Zales for that.
